The law of the land

House Rules

Governed by the commissioner of THE CUP. Arguments may be filed in the trash talk feed, where they will be ignored.

01

White tees. Always.

Every round, every course, every week. If you tee it up from the blues, congratulations — that round doesn't exist.

02

Play any course you want

Muni, resort, goat track — your call. The handicap math levels it out, so stop shopping for an easy card.

03

No gimmes. No breakfast balls.

That 14-incher is still a stroke. That opening slice into the parking lot is still in play. Putt it out like an adult.

04

Out of bounds = lateral drop + 1

No stroke-and-distance death march. Drop it laterally into the fairway, add one penalty stroke, keep the pace moving.

05

The rough is the rough

Ball may NOT be touched in the rough. Play it as it lies, hero. In the fairway you may adjust and improve your lie.

06

Max score: double par

Triple-bogey-plus meltdowns get capped. Snowman on a par 4 becomes an 8 and we all move on with our lives.

07

Log your score every week

No card, no count — and your team eats the missing score. Handicaps auto-adjust weekly off your logged rounds.

Format
  • Handicap: rolling average of (gross − course par) across every logged round including your baseline. Rounded, min 0, max 30. New handicap applies the following week.
  • Net score: gross − handicap.
  • Weekly team result: top 4 net scores per team, summed. Lowest total wins the week.
  • Money: $400 buy-in — $200 to the final pot, $200 to weekly prizes. Lowest net on each team wins cash every week.
  • Week 10 is the championship. Winning team takes the pot.
